I’m Erin.

About Me

My career didn't start in marketing. I started out as a technical writer, explaining complex SaaS products to users. Then I spent the next decade as a product manager, sitting in roadmap meetings, sprint reviews, and customer calls - understanding how software gets built and what it takes to create something valuable for customers.

When I finally landed in product marketing, it all came together. The whole job is translating what a product does into why a buyer should care. Getting prospects to understand a product’s value has turned out to be my superpower.

I don't need six weeks to fully grasp your product and your business. I do ask a lot of questions, and that’s what helps me get to the root of the problem fast. I can connect dots that are hard to see from the inside. (Sometimes it’s tough to see things clearly when you’ve been thinking about your problem space all day every day for years.)

I've spent 15+ years doing this inside early- and growth-stage B2B SaaS startups. I've worked across a lot of different industries and markets, and I pick them up fast. My sweet spot is founders, CEOs, and marketing leaders who have a solid product but can't get prospects to see it.

Staying Sharp

I follow other product marketing nerds like Anthony Pierri from Fletch, Emma Stratton from Punchy, and April Dunford—the fairy godmother of product positioning.

I’m a sucker for B2B marketing podcasts, and I try to stay active in the Minnesota startup community.

I’m a member of Pragmatic Institute, Product Marketing Alliance, and Women in Revenue.

Off the Clock

When I’m not positioning startups, I’m usually wrangling three small kids, escaping to my vegetable garden, or dreaming up the next project for our 1912 home. I’m married to a super talented software engineer, so sometimes we end up talking shop at the kitchen table. As true Minnesotans, we live for summer weekends at the lake.
